THIRD LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Third Livestock Development Project, initially intended to have been implemented from the year 2054/55, in Shrawan with loan assistance of the ADB in Western Development Region's Syanja and Rupandehi, has extended its project to nine districts up to third phase. Like wise, it has assisted in ago-processing and market development program for private sector in nine districts of Mid Western Region. This program has benefited 58,000 families of the farmers, among which 15 % are women. Apart from this, individuals involved in livestock product processing, business, market and industries have benefited from this project. By increasing the productivity of the livestock products, this project intends to improve the income, employment and nourishment condition of rural poor family and farmers and the project has adopted Participatory Approach in consideration to poverty alleviation, increment in women's role and environmental improvement. Total investment for the project is US $22.936 million. Central Management Office of this project is located at Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur and Regional Management Offices at Pokhara, Surkhet and Dhangadhi. The project period was to be closed by the fiscal year 2059/60. But, due to the balance amount remaining for the project, it has been continued for the fiscal year 060/61.

  3. Assist in the promotion and management of the market for livestock products
  4. Assist in organizational development
