POVERTY ALLEVIATION :
COMMERCIALIZED GOAT FARMING PROJECT

From the fiscal year 2057/58, for poverty alleviation in the rural region as 7-year program, Commercialized Goat Farming Project has been organized.

Main objective of this project is poverty reduction of 24200 families, generate employment opportunities for 48400 individuals, developing the source of goats in 80 private farm and substitute import of 5 lakh goats every year from the neighboring countries.

In the first phase, this project was organized in 22 districts from the fiscal year 2057/58. In the second phase from the fiscal year 2059/60, the project has intended to extend its program in 13 more districts of which the program has been possible to organize in Dhankuta only.

 
Objectivies
  1. Assist in poverty reduction of 200 families every year per district (Bajhang, Bajura and Darchula) in 7 years
  2. Generate 2600 employment opportunities in Kailali, Kanchanpur, Doti, Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Achham, Bardiya, Banke, Dang and Surkhet
  3. Assist in poverty reduction at the rate of 200 families every year per district (Pyuthan, Salyan, Dailakh, Jajarkot and Rolpa) in 5 years
  4. Poverty reduction of 7500 families from Kailali, Kanchanpur, Doti, Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Achham, Bardiya, Banke, Dang and Surkhet
  5. Assist in establishing 18 private forage industries
  6. Substituting yearly import of 22500000 eggs of the hen from neighboring countries
 
Major activities
  1. Distribution of breeding capable goats as grant under goat exchange program to poor farmers selected and after 2 years, exchange goats with other families from the previously distributed family as per the distributed numbers, breeds, and ages
  2. Establishment of 5 commercial goat farms in every district within the project period
  3. Establishment of 40 Goat Source Development Farm in the first phase and 40 in the second phase with the assistance of bank loan
  4. Generate proficient human resources by providing training on goat farming to the technicians involved in the program
 
 
Poverty Alleviation: Commercialized Poultry Farming Project to Promote Self-Employment
In the fiscal year 2057/58, for poverty reduction in the rural areas, 7-year program for self-employment promotion: commercialized poultry farming project has been introduced.
