The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, established in B.S. 2018 as Food Department, later changed to Central Food Research Laboratory, from 2057 expanded and developed its scope. This department has long been striving for the enhancement of safety assurance in food and feed supplies in the country. Further, the Department has a paramount role in augmenting appropriate food processing and post-harvesting techniques to promote agribusiness and thereby ameliorate the livelihood of the people who are acutely in needs. The nutritional activities conducted during the calendar year predominantly focused on nutritional improvement of different communities inhabiting in various geographical regions of the country.
This department intends to provide services and support to Food Quality Control Division, Food Technology Development and Training Division, National Food Laboratory, National Nutritional Program in Kathmandu and regional food laboratories in Biratnagar, Hetauda, Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi and Apple Processing Center in Jumla. |
